Tim Ten Yen - When The Song Applies To You

Tim Ten YenConfession: I have, on one occasion, come close to tears while listening to Daniel Bedingfield's If You're Not The One. Why is this pertinent? Well, it appears that Tim Ten Yen has done the same. When The Song Applies to You is his ode to those really cheesy songs, that, just when you are at your lowest, suddenly make sense.
He has obviously bounced back from that low point, though, because this is a cheerful ditty, opening with a synth tune that is sure to cheer anyone up, and with witty lyrics that you can't help but actually pay attention to you.
Available on the Brainlove Records 7" Club.

Hot Club de Paris - sometimesitsbetternottostickbitsofeachotherineachotherforeachother

coverAs many have said, this has to win the award for best song title of the year. It hasn't failed to win a smile from even the most hardened of indie-boys (can indie-boys be hardened?).
But does the song stand up to the attention it recieves? I think it does. Despite being fearsomely trendy, with its a capella singing and northern accents, there is a real dancefloor stomper buried within it.
Or at least there would be, if only dancefloors could get hold of it. Only being released as a run of 1000 vinyl is all very well, but I can't for love or money get hold of any MP3s of it. Even their myspace page draws a blank.
Still, if you can track down one of the remaining vinyls (maybe here?), you should be ready for a treat...
